(ANSA) - Milan, September 29 - Asparagus, ginger, almonds, chicory, chilli pepper and garlic are among the foods best recommended for sexual health, experts said Tuesday.
Urologists, gynaecologists and sexologists at Milan Expo for a conference said 350g of asparagus and 15g of ginger a week and 30g of almonds a day represented the perfect recipe for keeping things lively in the bedroom. Asparagus is rich in vitamin E, which stimulates the production of male hormones.
Almonds are rich in antioxidants and Omega 3, 6 and 12, fatty acids that boost male sexual performance and fertility.
Ginger also has antioxidant properties that favour endogenous hormone production. Chicory is a source of the steroid hormone androstenedione while garlic contains the oily liquid allicin, which increases the blood flow. "Two cloves of garlic a day for three consecutive months would help resolve problems of impotence particularly in men with high cholesterol," the experts said. The aphrodisiacal properties of chocolate, chilli pepper and oysters were all confirmed.
The experts warned against coffee, dairy produce, alcohol, fried foods and cured meats as being adverse to good sexual health.
