Italian base jumper dies in Switzerland

(ANSA) - Rome, August 28 - A 46-year-old Italian base jumper plunged to his death in the Swiss Alps Thursday after crashing onto rocks, police said.
    The man was accompanied by two other jumpers in the Gastern valley in the central canton of Bern. He was the last to jump into the abyss and "crashed onto a rocky ledge," local police said.
