(ANSA) - Rome, August 4 - Carabinieri paramilitary police
said Tuesday they smashed a drug-smuggling racket in the main
resorts of the Abruzzo coast including seizing narcotics
earmarked for clubs used by holidaymakers.
Numerous suspects were placed under house arrest as part of
the probe, police said.
The operation, coordinated by the anti-mafia DIA department
at L'Aquila, was spearheaded by Col. Sergio De Caprio, the
officer known as "Captain Ultimate" for his arrest of Cosa
Nostra 'Boss of Bosses' Totò Riina.
