(ANSA) - Genoa, August 3 - A 79-year-old Piedmont man died
Wednesday on the beach at San Bartolomeo al Mare in the Liguria
region, apparently of a heat-related illness, as a heat wave
continues to sweep the Italian peninsula.
The man was the fifth such death this summer of an elderly
person on the beaches of the Imperia province on the Ligurian
coast.
Emergency workers responded immediately to the call but
were unable to resuscitate the man, whom witnesses said
collapsed near his beach chair after having complained of
feeling ill.
