(ANSA) - Carbonia, July 7 - A Swiss-born nuclear physicist
who barricaded himself inside his house in Sardinia with a gun
surrendered on Tuesday following negotiations with Italian
police.
Alain Kespy, 74, shut himself in his retirement home in San
Giovanni Suergiu around 23:30 on Monday night, threatening to
shoot anyone who came near to the premises.
Kespy's wife raised the alarm after leaving the isolated
villa when he told her he did not want to be disturbed and
grabbed the gun.
Kespy, former mayor of Divonne les Bains in the Rhone-Alpes
region of France, faces a legal disagreement with the former
owner of the property, which may have provoked his action, local
sources said.
