(ANSA) - Rome, May 25 - Two Roma soccer fans were stabbed during a fight with Lazio supporters near the Olympic stadium before the highly anticipated Roma-Lazio derby, police said Monday.
The pair were both stabbed in the abdomen in the fight that reportedly included several blades near the Piazza Mancini bus park and rushed by ambulance to hospital.
Authorities said it appeared their injuries were not life-threatening.
The pair are said to be 31 and 38 years of age.
Monday's match was important for deciding who takes second spot in Serie A.
Tensions were also reported closer to the stadium, where police said about 1,000 Roma fans rushed the barriers separating them from Lazio supporters, forcing authorities to use water cannons to force them back. Smoke bombs and other objects were said to have been thrown by fans.
