Carabinieri officer seriously injured in check on migrants

(ANSA) - Genoa, May 22 - A Carabinieri police officer is in a serious condition in a Genoa hospital after being attacked on Friday with a screwdriver by one of two Senegalese migrants he has stopped for a routine check. Another Carabiniere was also hurt, but not seriously, in the incident. The two migrants ran away but were subsequently arrested. The migrant who carried out the attack risks facing a charge of attempted homicide.
