(ANSA) - Rome, April 27 - The death toll from Saturday's earthquake in Nepal has climbed to at least 3,617 people, local police said on Monday, as concern continued about the fate of four missing Italian cavers. There has been no contact since Saturday with the cavers, who were in Langtang, one of the Himalayan villages hit by the earthquake. Friends and family are hoping that the four are still alive but have been unable to call home because their satellite mobile phones are flat. The four are Giuseppe 'Pino' Antonini, a 53-year-old from the central city of Ancona who is an expert in cave and gorge expeditions, Gigliola Mancinelli, an 51-year-old anesthetist and fellow Ancona native, Oskar Piazza, a member of the Trentino Alto Adige Alpine Rescue and Giovanni 'Nanni' Pizzorni, a 52-year-old from Genoa, who is an experienced canyoner. Family members said the four had decided not to go caving on the day of the earthquake because of bad weather.
