(ANSA) - Florence, April 24 - Italy's state forestry corps and
the customs agency seized 20,000 bottles of fake wine and grappa
ready for market distribution from a Florence-area warehouse,
officials announced on Friday.
Bottle containing pea-, sorghum-, rice- and prune-
distilled alcohol were found on the premises of a company that
distributed Chinese products and were labeled as grappa and wine
for market and restaurant sales.
According to officials,the company owner reportedly had
been sued for business fraud and consumer product safety code
violations.
The alcohol will undergo further tests by Customs labs to
establish exact composition.
Also seized were 3000 pieces of electrical equipment with
no security nor compliance certification.
