(ANSA) - Nuoro, April 9 - A Sardinian former concentration
camp prisoner is to celebrate his 95th birthday by making a
parachute jump Saturday, media reported Thursday.
It will be only the 12th jump made by Modesto Melis from
Carbonia, after his passion for parachuting was interrupted when
he was deported to the Nazi concentration camp at Mauthausen in
Austria during the Second World War.
For 30 years Melis has worked with schools to make his
story of imprisonment and survival known.
Now in Serdiana near Cagliari on Saturday he hopes to crown
his dream of parachuting once again.
