Poor weather for Italy's Easter week-end

Rainstorm expected over Easter but recovery by Easter Monday

(ANSA) - Rome, March 31 - The Easter week-end in Italy will not be blessed with fine weather this year though sunny skies will prevail until the Way of the Cross ceremony on Good Friday, meteorologists predicted Tuesday.
"It will be spring until Friday with prevalence of beautiful weather," said weatherman Edoardo Ferrara from 3bmeteo.com.
"Then there will be a worsening of the weather with the temperature falling for Easter".
Bad weather from the Atlantic will cover the Alps on Italy's northern frontiers with cloud from the end of the week, leading to some rain and snowfalls with gusting winds of over 100 kph in areas above 2,000 M over sea-level, said Ferrara.
Strong Mistral winds also will sweep the Tyrrenhian sea and the main Italian islands, especially Sardinia, he added.
"For Easter the prognosis remains very uncertain, but it seems that we will be hit by a strong storm descending from north Europe with a quick sweep of rain and downpour from north to south together with a falol in temperature due to cold air entering from the North".
"Already by Easter Monday the weather ought to be improved in the centre north, still uncertain in the South. It is however a very delicate situation that necessitates further confirmation and updating," the meteorologist said.
