(ANSA) - Rome, March 13 - Government cars for eight judicial officials were found damaged in their parking lot at the Rome courthouse on Friday, marked with the letters "Sdd".
The first car of the eight found damaged was that of Luca Tescaroli, a magistrate investigating Rome's recently unmasked local mafia known as "Mafia Capitale". The other seven officials whose cars were damaged include those of Franco Ionta, an assistant prosecutor and former head of the prison administration; Francesco Minisci, an investigator of Calabrian organized crime; Ilaria Calò, who has investigated organized crime on the coastal area near Rome; and Erminio Amelio, who has previously investigated Italian terrorist group activity.
A formal investigation has been opened, and investigators are currently reviewing security camera footage of the courthouse parking lot in an attempt to identify the suspect, as well as working to determine the meaning of the initials engraved on the cars.
