(ANSA) Rome, March 3 - Carabinieri paramilitary police Tuesday arrested two men with criminal records on charges of kidnapping the student son of a Calabrian mobster in Rome, police said.
The two were identified as Rosario Marando and Geremia Orlando Barbuto and their arrest followed that of another man, Salvatore Ammazzagatti, arrested in May also on charges of carrying out the daylight kidnapping of the 23-year-old student Nov. 27, 2013.
Witnesses called police at the time when a group of men in the Africano neighborhood near La Sapienza university bundled the student into a car and took off at high speed, releasing him a few hours later.
Police sources said that the incident was linked to a feud between two clans of the 'Ndrangheta, the Calabrian version of the mafia, in Reggio Calabria province - the Marando clan in Plati and the Aquino Coluccio clan at Gioiosa Jonica.
The kidnapped man was the son of a member of the Coluccio clan, said the sources.
