Supreme court says Franzoni house arrest to be reviewed

Surveillance court to re-examine case

Redazione Ansa

(ANSA) - Rome, February 11 - Italy's supreme Cassation Court on Wednesday ruled in favor of a request by State prosecutors to re-examine a surveillance court decision to grant special house arrest to Anna Maria Franzoni, requesting her return to prison in Bologna, where she was serving 16 years in jail for killing her three-year-old son Samuele in January 2002.
The Surveillance Court in Bologna will now have to review its decision.
Franzoni is currently under house arrest in her home in the central Italian town of Ripoli di Santa Cristina, where she lives with her husband and two children.
Franzoni was sentenced to 30 years in prison in July 2004 for aggravated murder following her son's killing in the family home in Cogne. That sentence was reduced in 2007 to 16 years in jail for homicide.
