Locals alarmed, but no damage or injuries reported

(ANSA) - Rome, January 30 - An earthquake registering 4.1 on the Richter scale alarmed local residents across the Friuli and Veneto areas of northeastern Italy early Friday morning, but no damage or injuries were reported as a result, local authorities said.
Four aftershocks with a magnitude of less than 2 were also recorded, said Italy's National Institute of Geophysics and Vulcanology (INGV).
The earthquake's epicenter, between Moggio Udinese and Venzone, is part of a noted seismic zone, where in 1976 a devastating 6.5-magnitude earthquake killed nearly 1,000 people.
