(ANSA) - Pavia, January 23 - A fraudster posing as a water
board employee robbed a 79-year-old pensioner of gold and
jewelry worth 10,000 euros after using a metal detector to
discover them in a walled compartment, police said Friday.
The robber told the old lady he needed to use the detector
to check for faulty pipes.
He also made off with 200 euros in cash, police said.
