(ANSA) - Trapani, January 16 - Police seized 18.5 million euros in assets on Friday linked to the Sicilian Mafia clan run by fugitive Cosa Nostra No.1 Matteo Messina Denaro, bringing the total worth of assets seized since last month to 38.5 million euros.
The assets involved in Friday's operation belonged to businessman Salvatore Angelo and alleged mafioso Antonio Nastasi and his wife Antonina Italia, all of whom had been convicted of mafia ties and registering false assets.
Messina Denaro, 52, is one of the world's 10 most wanted men, according to Interpol.
Anti-mafia police recently made inroads in weakening the clan when they arrested 16 suspected clan members in November raids.
