Gamberale cleared in Milan airports

Ex-Telecom chief not guilty of rigging bid

Redazione Ansa

(ANSA) - Milan, June 24 - Former Telecom Italia chief and engineering magnate Vito Gamberale was cleared Friday of charges of complicity in an alleged rigging of the auction of a 29.75% share in the Milan airports authority SEA.
Prosecutors alleged Gamberale and his partner Mauro Maia struck an illicit deal with Indian entrepreneur Behari Vinod Sahai to present his bid to purchase the SEA stake too late.
The Indian bid was disallowed, leaving the way open to Gamberale's F2i Italian Funds for Infrastructures company, prosecutors alleged.
