230 food samples tested for food fair

(ANSA) - Turin, October 23 - More than 230 food samples from Africa, Asia and South America were examined for the Salone del Gusto food fair and Terra Madre conference taking place in Turin, the institute that performed the tests said Thursday.
    The Istituto Zooprofilattico searched the food samples for pathogens like Salmonella and Listeria, and for chemical contaminants to guarantee the safety of the international culinary offerings produced for the events organized by Slow Food, which promotes sustainable, local, traditional practices.
    Every sample passed the microbiological and chemical checks, the institute said.
