(ANSA) - Gioia Tauro, October 21 - Italia police on Tuesday arrested 13 businessmen in connection with a probe into suspected 'Ndrangheta infiltration of the giant Calabrian container port of Gioia Tauro.
Police said the Pesce clan of the Calabrian Mob had "effective control" over much of the port's business.
Police seized 23 companies worth some 56 million euros.
Gioia Tauro is the largest container port in the Mediterranean.
'Ndrangheta, Italy's richest and most powerful mafia, is said to move a lot of its cocaine through it.
The Calabrian mafia controls the European cocaine trade.
