Police seize 14 properties in 'Ndrangheta sweep

(ANSA) - Turin, September 23 - Finance police on Tuesday seized 14 properties worth four million euros belonging to a convicted member of the southern Calabria's region's powerful 'Ndrangheta crime syndicate.
    The properties were located in Bovalino in the province of Reggio Calabria.
    The unnamed man, who has a conviction for mafia association and is thought to have been a member of the 'Ndrangheta's Natile di Careri clan, was arrested in May.
    In recent years the 'Ndrangheta has passed Sicily's Cosa Nostra mafia as Italy's most powerful criminal organisation, thanks to its dominance of the European cocaine trade.
