(ANSA) - Rome, September 1 - Landslides that followed inclement weather in northern Italy have caused the death of a volunteer firefighter near Bolzano.
Alexander Mayr, 39, was working on removing a series of landslides that had blocked part of the Brenner state road, when a landslide swept him into the Isarco torrent.
    Attempts at resuscitation were unsuccessful.
Meanwhile, snow dusted Mt. Lussari in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region at 1,789 metres Sunday night, bringing with it a winter-like temperature of just 2 degrees C early Monday morning.
The forecast for the area on Monday called for overcast skies with periods of rain.
