(ANSA) - Rome, August 22 - Italian and Swiss police on
Friday arrested 18 people - two in Calabria and 16 in
Switzerland - after uncovering a 40-year-old branch of the
Calabrian 'Ndrangheta mafia in Italy's northern neighbour.
'Ndrangheta, Italy's richest mafia because of its hold over
the European cocaine trade, has long had known offshoots in
northern Europe, North America and Australia, but this latest
Swiss connection was unknown to investigators.
