(ANSA) - Livorno, August 21 - An elderly count has sued a
Tuscan town to reclaim land rented out after the peasant riots
of 1848, court records showed Thursday.
Count Walfredo della Gherardesca, 74, wants the town of
Castagneto Carducci to pay three million euros in back rent and
the land returned.
The municipality stopped paying rent in 1975, according to
the count. The first hearing will be held on October 31.
