Gun allegedly fired by accident during arrest attempt

(ANSA) - Naples, July 31 - A carjacking suspect was killed when a police officer allegedly fired his gun by accident, shooting the suspect in the back as the officer attempted to handcuff him, local carabinieri sources said Thursday.
    The suspect, Antonio Mannalà, died on the scene in Cardito.
    He was stopped for allegedly stealing a car in Casalnuovo di Napoli, along with two accomplices, from a couple in their twenties Wednesday night.
    One of the three carjacking suspects, Domenico Gallo, a 25-year-old resident of Afragola, was taken into custody, while the third suspect remains armed and at large, police said.
    The North Naples prosecutor's office has opened an investigation into the shooting.
