Expo Dubai: Enel lights speak to visitors with emotions

(ANSAmed) - ROME, 06 APR - The energy of Enel will illuminate the Italy Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai with an innovative system based on the technology of the Internet of things that will create a play of lights tied to the emotions of visitors.
    In addition, a digital system to monitor consumption will highlight the benefits of conscious choices tied to sustainable urban development.
    Two dynamic light installations - Second Sun and Second Moon - were created ad hoc for the pavilion by the business line Enel X, with a diametre of five metres and about 320 LED lights.
    The project functionally illuminates the pavilion but also creates light shows through the changes in temperature colour over the course of 24 hours, the circadian rhythm.
    Integrated cameras as part of a system based on the Internet of things will measure in real time the number of people inside the pavilion, analysing data to generate a change in the "sun" and create an emotional and cognitive narrative with visitors.
    Smart metering will be installed on the lines providing power to the Second Sun, and will use changes in the installation's electricity consumption to simulate real-time monitoring of daily domestic energy consumption.
    Francesco Starace, CEO and general director of Enel, said Expo 2020 Dubai is a unique opportunity for promoting models of sustainable development and responsible energy consumption practices.
    "These are elements that, together with the development of renewables, see us committed to the transition to a sustainable energy future in line with UN development goals," Starace said.
    Paolo Glisenti, commissioner general for Italy's participation at Expo 2020 Dubai, said the Italy pavilion will be the first habitat that is completely "decarbonised, energetically self-sufficient, and avant-garde using the new smart technologies for sustainability". (ANSAmed).
