(ANSA) - ROME, APR 15 - German airline Lufthansa on Monday said it was confident the European Commission will approve its merger with Italian carrier Ita.
Lufthansa said it had "submitted a detailed response to the objections notified on 25 March and possible remedies have also been presented".
It said it "has developed a comprehensive and constructive solution to address the competition concerns raised by the Authority on the routes concerned and the situation at Milan-Linate airport".
This solution, said the German company "is compatible with the economic reality of the highly competitive Italian air market".
But it said that "we will not comment on the details of the proposal".
The German group said it remains "confident that the European Commission will approve the stake in Ita Airways and that Ita can become part of the Lufthansa family by the end of this year". (ANSA).
