(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 15 - Swisscom said Friday it was buying
Vodafone Italia from the Vodafone Group for eight billion euros.
The Swiss telecoms giant said it has entered into binding
agreements with Vodafone Group Plc to "acquire 100 per cent of
Vodafone Italia for EUR8 billion with the aim of integrating it
with Fastweb, its subsidiary in Italy".
It said "the combination of complementary high-quality mobile
and fixed-line infrastructure and the expertise and assets of
Fastweb and Vodafone Italia will create a leading converged
operator in Italy." (ANSA).
