IMF slashes Italy's 2023 growth forecast to 0.7%

Cut 0.4 of a point with respect to July's forecast

Redazione Ansa

(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 10 - The International Monetary Fund (IMF) said Tuesday that it has cut its forecasts for Italian growth for 2023 and 2024, amid a general slowdown in the global economy, particularly in Europe.
It said it expects Italy's GDP to rise by 0.7% this year, down 0.4 of a percentage point compared to its July forecasts.
The IMF said it sees the Italian economy growing 0.7% next year too, 0.2 of a point lower than the previous estimate. It said Italy was feeling the effects of a weakening of the industrial sector and a fall in investment in construction.
The Fund said the war in Ukraine, tight monetary policies adopted by central banks to combat inflation and extreme climate events were among the factors contributing to slower global growth. (ANSA).
