Growth to decelerate in coming months due to floods

Uncertainty linked to Ukraine war also a factor says Istat

(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 6 - Italy's GDP growth is set to decelerate in the coming months, with the two separate waves of devastating floods that claimed a total of 17 lives in Emilia Romagna last month a factor, Istat said Tuesday in its report on Italy's Economic Outlook for 2023-24.
The deceleration is set to be quite abrupt as the carry-over GDP growth was 0.9% at the end of a strong first quarter, but the national statistics agency sees growth for the whole year coming in at 1.2%.
In addition to the floods, Istat also cited uncertainty about the war in Ukraine as a risk factor. (ANSA).
