(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 31 - Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti
on Wednesday hailed growth figures showing GDP up 0.6% in the
first quarter over the last quarter of last year and by 1.9%
over the first quarter of last year.
He said it was "an encouraging result" as well as a "good signal
we are giving to Europe', where Germany has edged into
recession.
He also stressed the importance of continued fiscal discipline
saying "we will continue to keep our accounts in order, with
responsibility and seriousness.
"The good growth results, I'd like to stress, are the fruit of
the hard work of entrepreneurs and workers, the real heroes of
our time". (ANSA).
