(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 20 - The Milan stock exchange was volatile
in early trading on Monday as investors tried to digest the
impact of the rescue of Swiss bank Credit Suisse announced at
the weekend.
The FTSE Mib initially plummeted 2.6% but then recovered and
moved into positive territory, rising 0.1%.
There has been turbulence on the international money markets for
over a week after the collapse of the Silicon Valley Bank in the
United States led to concerns of contagion.
The spread between Italy's 10-year BTP bond and the German Bund,
meanwhile, went up by eight basis points early on Monday to go
above the 200-points threshold to 203.
The yield on the BTP dropped by six basis points to 3.98%, but
those of other European bonds fell much further as many
investors moved money into State paper. (ANSA).
