(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 2 - American global investment company KKR on Thursday made a non-binding offer for the fixed network of Italian telecoms giant TIM.
KKR, which stands for Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co., presented TIM with the non-binding offer for its fixed network, including Fibercop and its stake in Sparkle.
TIM's board of directors will meet later Thursday to consider the offer.
The government is 'closely following' the offer, according a note from the transport and infrastructure ministry.
The note said the government "considers the safeguarding of employment levels and the security of a strategic infrastructure such as the national telecommunications network to be central".
