(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 2 - Italian inflation surged to 4.8% in January from 3.9% in December, and is now at its highest since 1996, ISTAT said Wednesday.
Energy prices showed their biggest hike ever, up 38.6%.
Prices in the 'trolley' of household goods were up 3.2%. (ANSA).
