(ANSA) - ROME, JUL 9 - Google is to invest $900 million in Italy in the next five years, the Web giant said Thursday.
    This will serve to open two Google Cloud Region that have been announced in partnership with telecom group TIM and to start the initiative "Italy In Digital", a new plan for small and medium companies.
    The plan aims to "accelerate the digital transformation of the country".
    Google CEO Sundar Pichai said "Google is proud to be a partner in Italy's economic recovery".
    Furthermore, as of today, Google will give a 1-million-euro grant to chamber of commerce body Unioncamere to bolster the digital transformation of struggling small and medium businesses.
    Google said it was looking forward to working more in Italy.
    It said it saw the Italian business sector as strategically important. (ANSA).
