People in employment down 52,000 in Q3

(ANSA) - Rome, December 12 - ISTAT said Wednesday that 23.255 million people were in employment in Italy in the third quarter of 2018, a drop of 52,000 with respect to the previous three months. It is the first quarter-on-quarter drop in the absolute number of people in work since the first quarter of 2015. The national statistics agency added, however, that the number of people in employment was up by 147,000 with respect to the third quarter of 2017. ISTAT said the proportion of working-age people who are in employment was steady at 58.7%.
