(ANSA) - Rome, November 19 - Telecom Italia (TIM) said Sunday
that the telecoms company's board had voted to appoint Luigi
Gubitosi its new CEO.
As a result Gubitosi is set to step down as one of the
extraordinary commissioners of former flag-carrier airline
Alitalia, which is in extraordinary administration.
He will replace Amos Genish, who was ousted last week amid a
battle between major stakeholders.
Gubitosi's nomination was supported by American activist
hedge fund Elliot Management, which recently wrestled control of
TIM's board from French group Vivendi.
Vivendi's representatives voted against the appointment.
