(ANSA) - Rome, August 9 - Italian banks are set to shed 16,000 more jobs by 2020 after cutting almost 12,000 posts in the last three years, the FABI trade union said on Tuesday. "Between 2013 and March 2016 11,988 workers left Italian banking groups and another 16,109 are ready to leave by 2020 on the basis of union agreements signed in recent industrial plans," said FABI Secretary General Lando Maria Sileoni.
"Of these, almost 9,000 are potentially early retirements". Sileoni added mayor banks Intesa, UniCredit, Monte dei Paschi di Siena, Banco Popolare and UBI had closed or sold 4,439 branches between 2009 and 2015.
