'End of chat, we're starting off'

(ANSA) - Rome, April 29 - A tender to build a new ultra-wide broadband network in Italy will come before cabinet Friday evening, Premier Matteo Renzi said Friday. He said "the State will put in the money, billions of euros. After so much chat we're starting off". Renzi said earlier this month that the government aims to have 100% ultra broadband coverage in Italy by 2020. On Thursday he said Italy's economic development depends on expanding its broadband network according to government plans. "We are staking part of the country's development (on broadband)," he said. Renzi said "we mustn't just invest in traditional infrastructure but also in overcoming the digital divide".
