(ANSA) - Rome, April 29 - The profitability of Italian banks
has risen but it is still below the average for EU banks, the
Bank of Italy said Friday. It added that "tensions on some
intermediaries have eased after November's rescue of four
(failed) banks. The BoI also said loans to the private sector
were recovering, but "slowly".
