Annual rate down from 0.3% in October

(ANSA) - Rome, December 14 - Italy's annual inflation rate for November was 0.1%, down from 0.3% in October, Istat said on Monday, confirming the figure given in its preliminary estimate.
It is the lowest level since May. The national statistics agency added that its consumer-price index in November was 0.4% lower than the previous month.
Eleven big Italian cities had negative annual inflation rates in November, Istat said. The city to experience deflation most was Bologna with a fall in prices of 0.7%. It was followed by Padua, Palermo, Catania, Perugia, Cagliari, Bari, Verona, Venice, Modena and Aosta. Low or negative inflation is seen as a threat to recovery prospects. The Italian economy as a whole endured periods of deflation both this year and in 2014.
