Autogrill enters China, eyes 50 mn turnover in 6 years

Italian giant to run outlets at Beijing and Sanya airports

(ANSA) - Milan, April 1 - Italian catering giant Autogrill announced Wednesday that it is landing in China with deals to run outlets at Beijing and Sanya airports. The company, which specialises in motorway and airport services, said it expects the agreement to generate 50 million euros over the next six years thanks to the opening of 10 food-and-beverage outlets via joint ventures with local operators Huazhuo and Cosmos.
    "At Beijing Airport, business will be run by a joint venture with Huazhuo," read an Autogrill statement. "The six locations here are expected to produce overall sales of 44m euros in the six-year contract duration.
    "At Sanya Airport, one of the country's main tourist destinations, Autogrill has formed a partnership with Cosmos, a Chinese operator with long experience in food service and retail, to run four locations, of which two to be managed directly by Autogrill and two under sub-concession. "The Company expects business here to generate total revenues of 6m euros in the period 2015-2020".
