(ANSA) - Rome, November 18 - Bad loans jumped by more than 22% in September compared with the same time last year, another indication of how hard the ongoing crisis has bitten the economy, the Italian Banking Association (Abi) said Tuesday.
In its monthly report on non-performing loans, the Abi said that the numbers rose to 177 billion euros in September, a 22.4% jump over the same period last year.
It was also 2.9 billion euros more than the 174 billion euros in bad loans reported in August, the group said.
Loans to households and businesses appear to be falling, with the Abi forecasting a drop of 4.5% this month compared with November 2013.
