Meridiana confirms 1366 layoffs

(ANSA) - Rome, October 21 - Sardinian carrier Meridiana on Tuesday confirmed plans to reduce staff by 1,366 in a meeting with the Italian government, unions and local institutions at the labour ministry in Rome, union sources said.
    The airline had previously planned 1,634 lay-offs.
    Talks are continuing without Meridiana management, between the government and unions.
