(ANSA) - Milan, August 27 - Shares in Telecom Italia jumped by more than 3% in early trading Wednesday on reports that the telecommunications giant is discussing strategies in its bid to buy Brazil's Vivendi SA broadband unit.
TIM shares rose by 3.35% to 0.86 euro in early trading in Milan.
Telecom Italia is said to be on the verge of a bidding war to gain control of Vivendi's a rapidly expanding Internet provider GVT in Brazil.
That could represent an opportunity for growth for TIM, which is faced with a multibillion-euro competition with former ally Telefonica SA to buy GVT.
