(ANSA) - ROME, APR 29 - The Group of Seven is leading the
fight to crush drug trafficking worldwide, "particularly
synthetic ones like fentanyl with particularly devastating
effects", the G7 said in a statement adopted at the initiative
of Italian Premier Giorgia Meloni, who holds the group's
rotating presidency, on Monday.
As well as fighting drug trafficking the G7 is aiming to lead
efforts to "seize the illicit proceeds from pushing and prevent
the spread of addiction above all among the young", the
statement went on.
The statement stressed joint efforts "to together fight the
production, distribution and sales of drugs". (ANSA).
