Don't exploit Moscow terror attack Tajani tells Russia

Foreign minister says there should be 'no escalation'

Redazione Ansa

(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 24 - Italian Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said Sunday that Russia must not use Friday's terrorist attack in Moscow to justify an escalation in its war against Ukraine.
The Islamic State (IS) group has claimed responsibility for the attack in which over 133 people were killed when gunmen went on the rampage and started a huge blaze during a concert at the Crocus City Hall.
Russia has linked Ukraine to the attack, while giving no substantial evidence to back this claim.
President Vladimir Putin said Saturday that four gunmen Moscow has arrested were trying to get to Ukraine.
Kyiv has said it had nothing to do with the attack.
"One must always be calm and prudent, even after the terrible terrorist attack in Moscow, and work to avoid an escalation," Tajani said at an event in Potenza when asked about Poland complaining of a breach of its airspace by a Russian cruise missile fired at towns in western Ukraine.
"So I believe considerations must be made that push all parties towards prudence.
"We must invite Russia not to exploit the attack". (ANSA).
