(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 30 - League deputy leader Andrea Crippa said in a statement Tuesday that he was sorry about the treatment Italian antifascist Ilaria Salis had received after being arrested 11 months ago for allegedly attacking two neoNazis in Hungary but that every country "punishes as it sees fit".
Rome has complained to Budapest after Salis, 39, was brought into court Monday on a chain and with her hands and ankles cuffed.
"Sorry about the treatment reserved for Ilaria Salis and we hope she is able to prove her innocence," said Crippa, whose rightwing League is friendly with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
"However, every country punishes as it wants and it's not up to me to judge what they do in other countries". (ANSA).
