(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 16 - ANSA journalist Francesco Bongarrà on Tuesday took over at the helm of the Italian Culture Institute in London.
'Siculo-Scotsman' Bongarrà, 49, was ANSA's chief parliamentary reporter for over 20 years having started out at the Times' foreign desk, and got a special farewell from the House Speaker recently. He also served in other ANSA bureaux including Buenos Aires.
Bongarrà, who lectures in parliamentary journalism at Rome's LUMSA University, replaces Katia Pizzi.
"Our main goal is to give space to the best of our country's cultural and creative world, valorizing not only the traditional elements that everyone knows but also by promoting an all-round knowledge of an Italy which, while conscious of its past, looks with confidence and courage to the challenges of the future," Bongarrà said in a letter with which he took up his new post.
