(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 4 - A Catholic school in Gaza under the auspices of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem has been hit by an Israeli air strike, the headteacher said on Saturday.
"This morning Israeli strikes hit the Rosary Sisters School in the area of Tel al-Hawa, damaging the large outdoor courtyard and causing damage to the surrounding buildings," Sister Nabila Saleh told the Catholic news agency SIR.
"A short while ago, the three young men who were in the school to guard against looting alerted me to the bombing," added the nun, who is currently displaced and sheltering in the Church of the Holy Family in Gaza.
"The shelling is ongoing and so it is impossible to go and survey the damage," she said.
The school had 1250 pupils, the majority of whom were Muslim.
